Dragonfly in Amber

I finished Outlander last night. It took me awhile to get started on the book...a little slow in the beginning but man, once I got into it, I couldn't put it down!

I'm not a good "review" person but I have to say I truly LOVED this book and am anxious to start the next book in the series, Dragonfly in Amber.

Not sure I'm going to reach my goal of 12 books this year but I'm pleased that I have been reading..and I'm not too far off. Who knows, maybe I'll become a total bookworm the next month and meet that goal!

Outlander..question answered

A friend wanted to know what this book/series was about so here's a copy/paste from Goodreads about it~

The year is 1945. Claire Randall, a former combat nurse, is back from the war and reunited with her husband on a second honeymoon--when she walks through a standing stone in one of the ancient stone circles that dot the British Isles. Suddenly she is a Sassenach--an "outlander"--in a Scotland torn by war and raiding Highland clans in the year of Our Lord...1743.

Hurled back in time by forces she cannot understand, Claire is catapulted into intrigues and dangers that may threaten her life...and shatter her heart. For here she meets James Fraser, a gallant young Scots warrior, and becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire...and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives.

Outlander

Finally decided it was time to start another book series. I debated about what to read but had several friends recommend The Outlander series so I got the first one today.

Anyone else get excited when they start a new book? I'm giddy with excitement..hehe!!

Finished the Skinny Rules

I finished The Skinny Rules this week. It was an okay book, lots of good information, many things I have already been doing but nice to re-affirm my knowledge. Many of the "rules" are hardcore but I understand why they need to be that way but not sure even I would be willing to follow them yet...but hopefully eventually.

There are some good recipes and such in the book. I guess I just felt I wanted more...like more talk about exercise and well, I don't know.

I'd give it a 3 stars out of 5--okay, and a good information source but not totally fabulous.

Not sure what I'm reading next but hope to figure it out soon!!

The Skinny Rules

Not a read for everyone I'm sure but I really like Bob Harper, a trainer from The Biggest Loser, so I was excited to start his book and learn more tools on my journey to get healthy.

Just started it today but so far I am liking his style of writing.

Ahh..the series is done

I finished Land of The Painted Caves today. I must admit I took my time with this one as I knew it was the last in the series. I almost feel  a sense of mourning over not getting to read more about Ayla and her life.

Taking a few days off and then I'll see what to read next!!

The Land of the Painted Caves

Moving on to the last book in the series. I really want to savor it and make it last, sad that it's the last one. I'll have to visit the author's website and see if there are more to come maybe. I hope so.

So here's to the last book, The Land Of The Painted Caves, and hoping that I can make it last more than a few days...LOL! Way ahead schedule for my goal this year which is good!!

The Shelters of Stone

Finished the Plains of Passage tonight. Wow, I really can't get enough of these books! I'm onto The Shelters of Stone. Actually sort of sad that there is just one more book in the series after this one.

Anyone else ever feel like that when you come to the end of a series or even the end of a book? I get so involved it's almost a grieving process for a few days!

I did learn my lesson though, I just can't stay up until the wee hours reading..LOL!!

Wow!

Finished The Mammoth Hunters last night!! I have to take a wee break though as my neck hurts from looking down at the nook and I'm also so tired from staying up way too late reading! LOL!

Next up though is Book #4- The Plains of Passage. I am still so loving this series and am totally caught up in it.

And we're ahead of schedule..

My goal of reading 12 books this year should be very easy to obtain if I keep this pace....as I finished The Valley Of The Horses!

I just get so lost in books and then I think about them so much after I read them! Next up is The Mammoth Hunters although I'm going to try to go at a slower pace as I have other things that need my attention. I get so lost in the books that I tend to just forget the world around me. It becomes my world.

I am truly loving this series...and can't wait to find out what happens next!

Moving on...

So excited that I finished Clan of The Cave Bear today. I so enjoyed this book again. I really think it's one of my most favorite ever. Next up, the second in the series, The Valley of the Horses.
So far I'm doing well on my goal...I am finding that I truly am rediscovering my love of reading.

Clan of the Cave Bear

With everyone back to school and work I have been able to really get into my reading. I love having the Nook as most of my reading is done while I eat lunch and it's easier to read the Nook vs. fighting with pages.

The first book I'm reading or should say, re-reading is Clan of the Cave Bear. I read this book ages ago and loved it and now I see there are more in the series so I thought it would be a good *starting* book to get me back in the groove of reading.

My Great-Grandma actually was who originally suggested this book to me ages ago. She was a very important part of my life and it makes me smile when I remember her in her rocking chair reading a book.

So far I've been able to read at least one chapter a day, not too shabby. I'm really enjoying it and find myself starting to get that reading hunger that I once had but lost. It's good to be back to one of the things I love!
